IMG Credit: WWEThey want him. There have been all kinds of changes in WWE as of late and one of the most important has been the way contracts are negotiated. Rather than get deals made in advance, the new owners at Endeavor have instead started waiting until deals are about to expire before even beginning negotiations. That might be creating an opening for another promotion with a current star.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Chad Gable’s WWE contract expired this week, making him an official free agent. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE made an “excellent” offer to Gable, though AEW is said to be pushing to sign Gable. However, AEW could not officially make an offer until Gable’s WWE contract expired. Despite his contract status, Gable is set to challenge Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Title at Clash At The Castle on June 15. There is a chance that Gable has signed a short term extension with WWE, though there is no reporting that he has done so.
Gable is on fire right now. Check out what he has been doing lately:
Opinion: This could make for an interesting situation, though it is hard for me to fathom that WWE would advertise Gable for a pretty high profile match and not have him under some kind of a contract. It might not be a long term deal, but Gable wrestling for a title as a free agent sounds like a terrible idea. I can imagine AEW wanting to sign Gable and maybe they will, but it’s hard to imagine it taking place before Clash At The Castle.
