IMG Credit: WWEShe has to hang it up. Retirement is one of the most complicated concepts in wrestling as not everyone knows how to walk away. It is made even more complicated when a wrestler can come back for a single night on one more show, which continues their career that much longer. Now another legend is saying she is done next year and we know a bit more about how we got here.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Announcement: WWE Star Confirms He Is Leaving Company, Teases Future Action
Earlier this week, Meiko Satomura announced that she will be retiring in April 2025 on the 30th anniversary of her first career match. According to Fightful Select, Satomura has not been at an NXT taping since Roadblock 2023, when she last appeared on NXT TV. She has also not been coaching at the WWE Performance Center. There is nothing to suggest that she will be returning to WWE TV in any capacity. She was praised as being a good coach and some were said to hope she had a longer coaching stint in NXT. Satomura is expected to focus on her Sendai Girls promotion, where she will be wrestling in the coming months.
Satomura is a legend. Check out her time in WWE:
Opinion: This isn’t a big surprise, as Satomura is not active in WWE and apparently has not been for a long time. It is nice that she seems to be getting to do what she wants though and that seems to be the case going forward. As cool as it would be for Satomura to have one more big match on the WWE stage, it might almost be forced at this point and that would defeat a lot of the purpose.
What do you think of Satomura? How did she do in NXT? Let us know in the comments below.
