The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to formally present Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa with his certificate of return following his victory in the Ondo governorship primary election.
This was revealed by the party’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Duru, who stated, “Yes, the presentation of the certificate to Governor Aiyedatiwa will take place tomorrow (Monday) at the national secretariat in Abuja.” Duru, however, did not specify the timing of the presentation in relation to the National Working Committee meeting scheduled for the same day.
The announcement follows three days after APC’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, urged aggrieved aspirants to support Governor Aiyedatiwa, aiming for a unified front ahead of the November 16 governorship poll. Aiyedatiwa was declared the winner by the Governor Usman Ododo-led Primary Election Committee after conducting polls across the state’s 18 local government areas.
However, the outcome faced challenges as Senator Jimoh Ibrahim and five other aspirants filed petitions contesting the results, citing irregularities and violence in some polling units. Among the petitioners were Olusola Oke, Folakemi Omogoroye, Olugbenga Edema, Jimi Odimayo, and Wale Akinterinwa. They called for the nullification of the primary election results and demanded a fresh election.
