An imam in Owo town, Ondo State, Alhaji Abdulkareem Adedokun, has invoked curses on the killers of his wife, Temitope Adedokun, and his son, Abdulmalik Adedokun, who were murdered during a cult clash in the town.

The incident, which occurred on January 6, 2025, claimed four lives, including the imam’s wife and son, after rival cult groups engaged in a violent confrontation.

In response, the Ondo State Government imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on the community, while the state police command confirmed the arrest of 19 suspects linked to the clash.

In a Facebook post, the imam expressed his grief and anger, narrating how his wife and son were attacked in her shop.

The post, titled Open Letter to the People of Owo Local Government in Ondo State, Home and Abroad, and the General Public on the Killing of My Wife and Son by Cult Members in Owo on 6th January 2025, detailed his pain and frustration.

He wrote: “I, Imam Alhaji Abdulkareem Adedokun, am using this medium to inform the general public about what cultists in Owo have done to me by killing my wife, Temitope Adedokun, and my little son, Abdulmalik Adedokun. On 6 January 2025, they invaded my wife’s shop and killed her and her son.

“The most painful part of it is how politicians started playing politics with the death of my wife and son, even though they all know that no member of the Adedokun family has ever participated in cultist activities.

“I stand on the authority of my grandfather, Almustaph Adedeji Jika Anabi, who brought Islam to Owo and most parts of Ondo State, to lay a curse on the person who killed Temitope Adedokun and Abdulmalik Adedokun, all members of their cult gang, their supporters—including politicians and traditional leaders—and those protecting them from security agents, along with all their family members.

“From today, every child born into their family will die a mysterious death when they reach the age of my little Abdulmalik, whom they killed. From now until eternity, nobody will ever reverse this curse unless they can bring my little Abdulmalik back to life.”

He concluded his post by stating: “God bless anyone who shares this post. Imam Abdulkareem Adedokun.”
