PalmPay, a financial platform, has introduced a new USSD code aimed at expanding access to financial services for users across Nigeria.

In a statement released on Monday, the fintech company explained that its newly launched service allowed users to perform essential transactions, such as money transfers, bill payments, credit, and savings, through its platform.

According to the firm, the USSD functionality extends PalmPay’s services to those without smartphones or those facing internet connectivity issues.

The Managing Director of PalmPay Nigeria, Chika Nwosu, emphasised the company’s commitment to bridging the digital access gap.

“At PalmPay, we are focused on ensuring financial services are accessible to everyone. The introduction of our USSD service aligns with our mission to provide seamless connectivity for all our users,” he said.

Nwosu also highlighted the security features of the new service, noting that users could remotely freeze their accounts in case of a lost or stolen phone, offering added protection.

He added that the launch of the USSD service complemented PalmPay’s existing network of over 500,000 mobile money agents across Nigeria, allowing users to complete transactions without relying on internet access.

Nwosu further stated that PalmPay had made significant progress in promoting financial inclusion, with a third of its users opening their first-ever financial accounts through the platform.
