Paris Saint-Germain continues its flawless start to the Ligue 1 season. This Saturday evening, as part of the 4th day of the French championship, the capital club won on its home turf against Stade Brestois with a score of 3 goals to 1.
Ousmane Dembélé scored twice and Fabian Ruiz found the back of the net. On Brest’s side, it was Romain Del Castillo who found the net from a penalty in the first half.
With this success, PSG takes back the lead in the standings ahead of Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco with 12 points on the clock. Luis Enrique’s men are reassured and arrive full of confidence for the match against Girona in the Champions League this Wednesday.
For its part, Brest showed some good things despite the setback against the Parisians. Nevertheless, SB29 is in 12th place in the ranking and is not really reassured before the Champions League and its match against Sturm Graz.
A lively but not efficient PSG
From the first minutes of play, Paris Saint-Germain showed their intentions as in their first outings. Intensity, pressing and an alternation between fast and positional play. Very quickly, Luis Enrique’s men created many opportunities but struggled to find the fault.
Brest were able to count on a great Marco Bizot in this game. Despite the chances, it was Eric’s men who opened the scoring. Nuno Mendes committed a foul on Ludovic Ajorque, the referee whistled the penalty spot. Romain Del Castillo took charge and converted it (1-0, 29th).
A few minutes later, Ousmane Dembélé put the record straight by scoring a nice header following a cross from Marco Asensio (1-1, 42nd).
Paris accelerates at the end of the match
As soon as the break came back, Paris picked up the pace again but without being efficient. The Red and Blue had to wait until the end of the match to make the difference and crack Stade Brestois. Brilliant at Euro 2024, Fabian Ruiz cleaned Bizot’s top corner following a service from Ousmane Dembélé in the middle (2-1, 73rd).
A few seconds after this goal, Ousmane Dembélé made the break and extinguished Brest’s hopes with a fatal counter (3-1, 74th).
