Barcelona midfielder Pedri has assured that the entire team is in full support of Xavi and they will give their all to make sure he gets the best sending-off.
The Barcelona manager recently announced in a press conference that he will depart the team at the end of the season and while speaking after the Blaugrana’s recent 1-0 win over Osasuna, Pedri said that everyone in the team wants to give their best for the manager.
“After the news, we knew that these are the last games that we are going to play, enjoy as a coach and that we have to give everything,” the midfielder was quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
“We have to go out with even more enthusiasm than before and give him maximum victories until the end of the season.
“It is a week in which it is not normal for this to happen. It is complicated, but it is a decision of the manager.
“We are going to give everything we have left with him, he has helped us all a lot and we have to give everything for him and for the team,” he added.
Pedri’s thoughts on the victory
Barcelona have been troubled with excessive injuries this season and a certain Ferran Torres was the recent casualty agianst Osasuna.
The former Manchester City forward picked up a hamstring problem during the opening minute of the game and as reported before, he will be out of action for a month.
Speaking about the game, Pedri admitted that it was a difficult tie but a win is a win, no matter how or by how many.
“You know very well, it was a very difficult game due to the dynamics we were in. This week has been a little strange for everyone, but well we managed to win the game against a team that puts a lot of intensity into it. The important thing is the three points and continue adding.”
Speaking further, the 21-year-old shared his thoughts on Vitor Roque, who scored the only goal against Osasuna, saying that the winter acquisition could be an important player for the team.
“He can be very important. I think he is a player who brings a lot of intensity to him. Every time he comes out, we can already see that he has a goal.
“He is going to contribute a lot to us, he is constantly trying to uncheck, which is essential for a team, especially for the midfielders.”
La Liga is out of reach
Pedri confessed that retaining the La Liga crown will be very difficult for Barcelona this season, but that does not mean the team will stop trying. Rather, everyone at the club will give their best to finish as high as possible.
“It is true that La Liga is complicated, I have seen worse things that have been given the return. We have to try until the end, fight for everything, for the club that I think deserves it. We are going to try to continue adding three at a time.”
Lastly, he explained how complicated it is for a player to represent Barcelona and even for a coach, saying that there is simply no margin for error.
“It is true that being Barça coach has to be complicated, every time you fail there are problems. For me as a player, it is difficult to play for this club, but it is the best team in the world. You have to know how to accept criticism when you play poorly and know how to accept it,” he explained.
