Pete Dunne was not happy with Sheamus calling him Butch.

On Raw this week, Pete Dunne defeated Xavier Woods and The Miz in a triple threat match. This was part of the Intercontinental Championship number one contender tournament, with the winner earning a shot at champion Bron Breakker in the near future.

He advances into a four-way match on September 9th, with the winner becoming the new number one contender. Sheamus could also be included in that match, and beating the Irishman would go a long way to vanquishing Pete Dunne’s demons.

Pete Dunne spoke in a Raw Exclusive promo on YouTube. He discussed his current rivalry with Sheamus, taking particular umbrage with the Irishman continuing to call him “Butch”.

He noted that the name almost killed his career, having taken on the moniker as part of the Brawling Brutes, alongside Sheamus. However, he added that when he wins the tournament, he can call him “champion” instead.

“I’ve been in this business long enough to know you’re gonna win matches, you’re gonna lose matches.” Pete Dunne said. “It’s part of the job. But for Sheamus, that scum, man. To turn around and still call me Butch? To have a laugh at something that nearly killed my career? This is all I’ve got man. And he knows that.”

“All I’ve ever been, and ever will be, is a fighter. To be demoralized and reduced to that name shows what kind of person he really is. I don’t deserve it. And you all know that. What I do deserve, after all the setbacks and backstabs? A shot at the Intercontinental title. I’m not taking this opportunity lightly. When I win that tournament, and I have my hand lifted in the air, you can all call me something I approve of – champion.”
