Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, paid a visit to victims of a mosque assault in Kano State’s Gezawa Local Government Area.
Sharing images of the injured victims on his verified social media handle, Obi conveyed his visit on Monday.
Expressing his condolences for the May 16, 2024, terror attack during the morning prayer session, Obi visited the Murtala Mohammed Hospital in Kano to empathize with and offer support to the wounded. He emphasized solidarity against violence and conveyed his condolences to the Government of Kano State, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, and the people of Kano.
Calling for peace and understanding, Obi prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased and condemned the senseless act of violence.
The Kano State Police Command confirmed 15 fatalities in the mosque attack, where a perpetrator allegedly locked the doors, sprayed petrol, and set the mosque ablaze, resulting in tragic consequences.
