EXCLUSIVE: Phoebe Robinson, the actress, producer and stand-up comic behind the HBO series 2 Dope Queens and the podcast on which it’s based, has signed a two-year first look deal with Sony Pictures Television.

Under the deal, Robinson will develop and produce scripted series for cable and streaming platforms through her production banner Tiny Reparations.

In a statement to Deadline on the pact, Sony Pictures Television’s EVP Comedy Development Colin Davis said, “Phoebe can truly do it all. She is an authentic, funny, and brilliant storyteller who brings a freshness and vision to anything she touches. We are proud to partner with her and champion her unique voice.”

Added Robinson, “Ooh, chile, there are few things better than getting a new home – I’m registered at CB2, so somebody get me a nice duvet – and I’m thrilled that Tiny Reparations is joining the Sony family. They’re making me feel all cute and special, but more importantly, they’re doing dope things and I can’t wait for us to collab on making TV dreams come true for myself and others!”

Robinson is best known for co-creating and co-starring opposite Jessica Williams on 2 Dope Queens, an acclaimed comedy series for HBO, which ran for two seasons. Premiering in February 2018, the talk show format saw the duo delving into topics like sex, romance, race, hair, living in New York, and Billy Joel, among others. Airing between 2016 and 2018, the original podcast, hosted by Robinson and Williams, saw them welcome guests including Jon Hamm, Nick Kroll, LeVar Burton, Marc Maron, Michelle Buteau and Michelle Obama, among others.

Previously, Robinson created and starred in Everything’s Trash, a Freeform comedy based on her 2018 essay collection Everything’s Trash, But It’s Okay. That series and her Max stand-up special Sorry, Harriet Tubman were both produced by her company, Tiny Reparations.

Also a New York Times bestselling author and publisher, Robinson’s other essay collections include You Can’t Touch My Hair and Please Don’t Sit on My Bed in Your Outside Clothes. She launched her imprint, Tiny Reparations Books, in 2020.

Robinson is represented by UTA and Granderson Des Rochers.
