While waiting for the arrival of Olivier Glasner on his bench, Crystal Palace moved onto the Everton pitch with the objective of getting ahead of a remaining competitor. Coached for the moment by interim Paddy McCarthy, the Eagles dominated the first period, but had to wait until the hour mark for Ayew to release a powerful strike at the edge of the area and open the score (1-0 , 66th).

But the team belonging to John Textor failed to keep the score and saw the Toffees come back to the score at the end of the game thanks to a header from Onana, following a corner (1-1, 84th) . A draw which does not help Palace, still in 15th place in the Premier League, while Everton (17th) leaves the red zone, but remains tied on points with Luton, first relegated.
