Premier League make public the dates when they will announce 2024/25 matches moved for TV

The 2024/24 Premier League fixtures (see below) were released earlier today.

At the same time, the Premier League matches chosen for live broadcast on the first weekend of the new season have been made public, Newcastle v Southampton not affected and that goes ahead at 3pm on Saturday 17 August 2024.

Newcastle are away at Bournemouth the following weekend and no news as yet of when that will be played. whether moved for live TV or not.

The Premier League have made this commitment ahead of the new season… ‘The Premier League has also committed to giving supporters a minimum of six weeks’ notice on UK broadcast selections until December 2024, and five weeks’ from January 2025 until Matchweek 37.’

Most Newcastle United fans and indeed the vast majority of Premier League fans generally, will say they have heard this so many times before. Yet repeatedly, season after season, the Premier League and broadcasters fail to keep to their commitments.

The Premier League releasing the ‘provisional’ announcement dates when they say TV changes will be revealed.

According to the Premier League announcement below, we should know all changes for August and September by 5 July at the very latest.

‘Find out when the rescheduling of matches for live TV broadcast this season will be announced

Fixtures are amended throughout the season for several reasons, including live TV broadcast selections and to accommodate domestic and European cup competitions.

For this reason, Premier League fixtures are always advertised as being subject to change.

Below are the approximate dates for when the announcements on matches that have been selected for live TV broadcast will be made.

Newcastle United official announcement of 2024/25 fixtures:

Newcastle United will begin their 2024/25 Premier League campaign with a home fixture against Southampton.

The Magpies will entertain Russell Martin’s side, who gained promotion to the English top-flight last term after beating Leeds United in the Championship play-off final, on Saturday, 17th August, with the fixture set to take place at 3pm (BST).

United then travel to the Vitality Stadium the following weekend to take on AFC Bournemouth before welcoming Tottenham Hotspur to St. James’ Park on 31st August.

Following an international break, September begins with a trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers and, after a venture to the capital to face Fulham, Eddie Howe’s men conclude the month with the visit of Premier League champions Manchester City.

United will enter the Carabao Cup at the second round stage this season after narrowly missing out on European qualification, and their campaign in the competition will begin on or around Wednesday, 28th August.

Arsenal, West Ham United and Liverpool come to Tyneside in successive home fixtures between November and December and, following a first Premier League meeting in 22 years with newly-promoted Ipswich Town on Saturday, 21st December, United’s Boxing Day fixture is at St. James’ Park, against Aston Villa.

Howe’s side travel to Manchester United on Sunday, 29th December and Newcastle’s first league game of 2025 will be at away at Tottenham on Saturday, 4th January.

The Magpies will end their league campaign at home for the first time since 2019-20 when hosting Everton on Sunday, 25th May (kick-off 4pm BST).
