Which Premier League players have been fouled the most this season?
Around three quarters of the 2023/24 campaign has now passed by, so which PL stars have been most targeted?
An interesting top 10 listed below as we prepare for proper football to resume after the international break.
These are the stats recorded by Opta so far, the number of fouls committed against Premier League players, who the most popular ones are…
82 Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle)
80 Jordan Ayew (Crystal Palace)
53 John McGinn (Aston Villa)
53 Mohammed Kudus (West Ham)
52 Anthony Gordon (Newcastle)
52 Lucas Paqueta (West Ham)
51 James Maddison (Tottenham)
50 Bukayo Saka (Arsenal)
48 Joao Palhinha (Fulham)
47 Chiedozie Ogbene (Luton Town)
As you can see, Bruno Guimaraes clear at the very top, having been fouled 82 times, Jordan Ayew next on 80 BUT you have to go down to a couple of players on 53 to find the next most fouled.
Bruno’s Newcastle United teammate Anthony Gordon, no surprise to see him joint fifth having been fouled 52 times.
No surprise to see in most cases that it is the Premier League players who are the best ones in their team, the ones who are prepared to do the toughest job of all and happy to try and retain the ball in difficult situations, as well as take people on.
