President Bola Tinubu has issued an immediate directive for the removal of Ahmed Halilu, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc (NSPM), along with four other executives of the company.

According to an exclusive report by Premium Times, Halilu, who assumed the role in September 2022 under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, is the brother of former First Lady Aisha Buhari.

Affected by the removal directive are Ado Danjuma, Executive Director of Corporate Services; Chris Orewa, Executive Director of Operations at the Lagos Factory; Tunji Kazeem, Executive Director of Security Documents; and Victoria Irabor, Company Secretary. Mrs. Irabor is married to retired General Lucky Irabor, a former Chief of Defence Staff.

The Defence Headquarters, under General Irabor’s leadership in 2023, intervened to protect former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele from arrest by deploying troops to secure his residence and workplace.

In the interim, Abubakar Minjibir, Executive Director of Operations at the Abuja factory, has been tasked to serve as the acting Managing Director. The reasons behind Mr. Minjibir’s continuation in office were not specified.

Sidi Hakama, the spokesperson for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), did not respond to calls or messages seeking comment on the developments at the NSPM.
