Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, issued a stark warning to President Bola Tinubu on Monday, cautioning that the exchange rate for dollars could soar to N1,700 and a bag of rice might sell for N90,000 if the current economic crisis is not addressed promptly.
In a statement released by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele emphasized the urgent need for a solution to the ongoing turmoil plaguing the nation, indicating that failure to act decisively could lead to a prolonged economic downturn.
“If Tinubu’s government doesn’t do the needful, the economy will not balance till 2026. They need to put security in place, reduce the prices of food commodities, provide enough electricity, and promote local products. This will help the government and will crash the dollars,” Ayodele advised.
He further expressed skepticism about the efficacy of the measures currently being implemented by the administration, warning that they might exacerbate inflation rather than alleviate economic woes.
“All these measures they are taking will not work; it will just lead to inflation. If they don’t do the right thing, Nigeria will buy dollars for N1,700, a bag of rice will cost N90,000, and it will kill the economy. They don’t seem to have ideas that will help the situation,” Ayodele cautioned.
