Priyanka Chopra is a force to reckon with and has truly had an inspiring journey in the industry. While she stayed in Bareilly during her childhood, her early days were in USA. However, the actress’ days in Bareilly were not easy as she had to stay in a protective environment due to unwanted incidents. Priyanka Chopra’s mother Madhu Chopra recently in an interview revealed how a man broke in their Bareilly house and how the family dealt with it.

In a chat with Lehren Retro, Madhu shared that Priyanka was very different than the people who lived in Bareilly and since she had just come back from living in the US. She said, “We put her in a convent school. We would pick and drop her in the car because her father was strict that you couldn’t go anywhere alone. Boys started following our car, so it started getting unsafe,” she said. Priyanka’s parents realised that she didn’t belong in a small town and decided to move to a bigger city. “He (Priyanka’s father) said we will put her in the army school so she can move with us,” she recalled.
She also recalled how a stranger broke into their house which escalated the situation. “One day, a boy jumped our fence and entered our house. That was scary. The next day, her father covered the entire house with iron bars. From the boundary to the terrace… even monkeys couldn’t enter. That house is still the same,” she said.
Priyanka’s father then sat her down for a conversation and advised the actress to completely changed her wardrobe. Madhu recalled, “I don’t know what conversation they had. The next day, she came back from school and said she wants to go shopping. I took her and she selected such dull and drab clothes… all salwar kurtas. She selected colours like off white, brown, beige to look dull,” she said and added, “I don’t know what he said. She never told me and he also didn’t tell me but this was the reaction. After that, she did not put on western clothes in Bareilly.”
Well, after her days in Bareilly, PeeCee was crowned as Miss India and Miss World. She later made her career in films and now is successful even in Hollywood.
