In a statement posted on its social networks, Paris Saint-Germain expressed its support for Nuno Mendes. The 22-year-old left-back was the target of racist insults after Paris’ victory against Brest (3-1), Saturday evening, at the Parc des Princes, in Ligue 1. The Portuguese international (28 caps) had caused a penalty following a foul on Brest’s Ludovic Ajorque, in the 29th minute of play. “The club does not tolerate any form of racism, anti-Semitism or any other form of discrimination. The racial insults directed at Nuno Mendes are totally unacceptable. We strongly support Nuno and all those affected, and we are working with the relevant authorities and associations to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.”indicated the Parisian club.
