Reese Witherspoon Reveals Co-Written Thriller With Harlan Coben In The Works

Reese Witherspoon has added author to her already multi-hyphenate resume.

The actress revealed on Instagram that she and best-selling author Harlan Coben, and the novel is set to release in the fall of 2025.

“As a massive fan of Harlan’s work, I can’t believe he agreed to co-author a novel with me. I’m either the most persuasive person alive or the idea of this book is just TOO GOOD! Maybe both ?? 🤷🏼‍♀️🤗 “ Witherspoon captioned her post. “I honestly can’t wait for you all to read it! Pre-order now at the link in my bio. ✨”

Coben has written thirty-five novels, many of which have been adapted into television shows for Netflix, like Fool Me Once, The Stranger, Hold Tight, The Woods, Safe, The Innocent and Stay Close. Prime Video’s television adaptation of his book Shelter was canceled after one season.

Witherspoon’s production company Hello Sunshine has backed several recent book adaptations like Prime Video’s Daisy Jones and the Six from the best-selling book by Taylor Jenkins-Reid, Hulu and ABC Signature’s Tiny Beautiful Thingsbased on Cheryl Strayed’s novel, Netflix’s From Scratch based on Tembi Locke’s memoir and Apple TV+’s The Last Thing He Told Me, which was renewed for a second season based on a new novel that author Laura Dave is writing.

The actress started Reese’s Book Club in June 2017 and recently celebrated the club’s 100th book selection, The Comfort of Crows by Witherspoon’s high school English teacher Margaret Renkl.

Several other Reese’s Book Club picks are in the adaptation process, such as YA selection Twelfth Knight by Alexene Farol Follmuth, Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfield and Cesca Major’s Maybe Next Time, which was announced as a film adaptation before Witherspoon’s book club made it the selection of October 2023.

Other book-to-screen adaptations produced by Hello Sunshine include Something From Tiffany’s starring Zoey Deutch and Kendrick Sampson and the upcoming release Broken Country by Claire Leslie.
