As announced yesterday by French Football WeeklyAlbert Gronbaek will join Southampton. After successfully passing his medical examination, the Danish midfielder is loaned with an option to purchase by Stade Rennais to the English Premier League club.
Recruited for €15 million in the summer of 2024, Gronbaek embodied Rennes' great ambitions. However, after a promising start, he saw his performances fade behind the team's collective difficulties. In turn integrated by Julien Stéphan then repositioned by Jorge Sampaoli, the player never managed to establish himself in the long term. Disappointed by the situation and relegated to a loft with other undesirables, he asked to leave this winter and will try to get back on track in England.
