Report: AEW Made ‘Substantial Offer’ To Kazuchika Okada, Update On WWE’s Interest

A new report provides an update on Kazuchika Okada as he officially enters free agency.

Kazuchika Okada is wrapping up with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. The seven-time world champion’s contract is up at the end of January. He will wrap up with the company after a few final matches. Okada has been linked to both AEW and WWE since his looming NJPW exit was announced. Plus, fans have been buzzing since PWTees was informed that they needed to remove his merchandise within 24 hours on January 30.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that the PWTees aspect of the situation was linked to his NJPW contract expiring, and it was not connected to WWE or AEW. Sapp then cited sources who noted that NJPW has been understanding of Okada speaking with other companies. Per Sapp, NJPW sources say that things have been amicable between them.

Additionally, Sapp cites WWE sources who confirmed that there have been talks between Okada’s side and the company. The report notes that WWE talent have confirmed that Okada has been contact with others on the roster to gauge his offers, WWE’s approach, and to help him weigh his decision. There is no word on any pitches, let alone plans in place, for Okada.

Additionally, Sapp reiterates that AEW has been confident that they would land Kazuchika Okada. Sapp writes that there were tentative plans in place to debut Okada, and sources stated that AEW made what they consider a substantial offer. However, sources claim that no contract has been signed.
