Hikuleo is reportedly expected to join WWE.
Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net reports that NJPW star Hikuleo’s final date with the company was at the Dominion event on June 9. Per NJPW sources, it is believed that he is heading to WWE. Haynes writes that there is no word on when fans can expect to see him on WWE TV.
Likewise, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that Hikuleo has interest from WWE. WWE and NJPW sources expect him to join the company. Sapp writes that he has not confirmed that he wrapped up with NJPW, but it at least seems to be the case on-screen. He and El Phantasmo lost the tag titles at NJPW Dominion.
In a previous interview, Hikuleo confirmed that he and Tonga spoke with WWE in January 2023, but an unofficial hiring freeze put those talks on hold. Hikuleo then agreed to a new deal with NJPW that kept him with the company.
Hikuleo is Tama Tonga’s younger brother, making him a real-life member of The Bloodline. He is the son of Haku, also known as Meng. He had been with NJPW since 2016, and he held the IWGP and STRONG Tag Team Titles. Hikuleo is also a former STRONG Openweight Champion.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
