El Hijo del Vikingo has reportedly suffered an injury.
The reigning AAA Mega Champion wrestled at AULL Rencor Extremo on February 17, and Mas Lucha reports that the match was stopped after he suffered an apparent injury. Vikingo landed awkwardly on his knee, and officials checked on him backstage. The report noted that there was some concern that the injury may be serious.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer addressed the situation and noted that Vikingo hurt his meniscus, and he will likely need surgery. Meltzer stated that Vikingo’s knee was “already bad”, and he was probably going to need surgery, but this injury could sideline him for a length of time. (H/t Ian Carey of F4WOnline.com)
Vikingo often wrestles for AAA, and he frequently competes for AEW and ROH. He has also been active on the independent scene.
As of this writing, there is no official word on the injury. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
