Kurt Angle has claimed that WWE contacted him about WWE Royal Rumble, according to a new report.
Per Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select), WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has told those close to him that WWE contacted him about participating “in something” for WWE Royal Rumble. The report emphasized that it was not known whether this was for the Royal Rumble match or an appearance otherwise.
Angle will be in Indianapolis, the site of WWE Royal Rumble, for WrestleCon.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
Kurt Angle On His Future
Angle has not wrestled since WWE WrestleMania 35 in 2019. He has made it clear that he can’t return to the ring. Speaking on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, he recently commented on potentially facing John Cena during his farewell run.
“I would love to wrestle John Cena,” Angle said. “There’s nobody that wants to wrestle John more than I do for his retirement match. Especially with the respect I have for him. I just can’t do it.”
“Because if I get in the ring and I start beating myself up, I’ll never heal,” Kurt Angle said. “I could just walk in there cold and have a match with him, but then I would probably regret it when I was done.”
