Barcelona are gearing up for an important summer ahead and a potential rejig after the club decided to axe coach Xavi Hernandez.

Xavi will leave the club at the end of the season, with Hansi Flick all set to replace him in the coming summer.

In the meantime, though, Barcelona are still reeling from Xavi’s sudden change of fortunes and how to move on in the weeks to come.

Message from Xavi’s staff member

Shortly after Barcelona announced the departure of coach Xavi Hernandez at the end of the season, one of the staff members sent a heartwarming message to the rest of the coaching staff.

The message exuded professionalism and acknowledged that Xavi’s team was able to get Barcelona a step closer to restoring its lost glory.

“This is football, we realize that we arrived at a sunken team, without soul and foundation,” the message began (h/t AS).

“We won a league and a Super Cup by beating Real Madrid,” the letter continues, acknowledging Barcelona’s league triumph last season as well as the Spanish Super Cup.

The message also acknowledges that the team has been able to unearth a slew of young talents, who have gone on to become key members of the first team.

“We are leaving a base, which, if well cared for, will bear a lot of fruit’,” the letter reads, implying that the next manager must take good care of these La Masia products, which have limitless potential and could become the face of Barça in the years to come.

This was essentially the crux of the message sent by one of the team members to the rest of Xavi’s coaching staff.

As can be seen, the letter had no acrimony or criticism towards the leaders of the board, which played a key role in Xavi’s dismissal.

This chimes in with earlier reports which suggested that Xavi’s coaching staff was relieved by Barcelona’s decision.

Xavi, for his part, also deserves credit for taking good care of the staff. Upon his dismissal, the exit-bound manager notably renounced his salary.
