WWE has hired a new writer, according to a new report.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that Eric Watts has joined the writing team, and he is set to work full-time on the SmackDown side. Watts previously competed on Tough Enough in 2011. Though he did not land in WWE, he did extra work for the company. Watts later popped up in other major companies. He competed at TNA Unbreakable 2019, and he wrestled on AEW Dark in 2020.
The Miz: WWE Has Never Been More Popular
Watts joins WWE at a time when the company is red-hot. Former world champion The Miz recently highlighted how business is booming.
During an appearance on Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, The Miz discussed the changes in WWE.
“Right now, the locker room is at an all-time high of positivity,” he said. “I think that Triple H has really took the reins and has made this show incredible. [He] has given chances to people that may have not gotten chances before. You see what’s happening.”
“I’ve never seen WWE so popular in my 20-year career that I’ve been here,” The Miz said. “I’ve never seen so many superstars that we consider what we call one, which means when they come out, the crowd goes ecstatic, whether they’re booing them or they’re cheering them, they’re highly engaged, and there are so many superstars right now, it’s hard to get on a SummerSlam card. Right now, getting on a PLE is very, very difficult to have a match.”
