The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum has taken a firm position on the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State involving Governor Siminalayi Fubara and former governor turned FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

The clash between Fubara has worsened defying political, legal and other solutions even as their loyalists have taken the fight to another level. The two opposition camps engage in tussle at different occasions and on various issues.

Following their meeting in Enugu on Wednesday, the Governors elected on the PDP platform expressed solidarity with Governor Fubara amidst the factionalization of the State House of Assembly and other internal disputes within the party.

In a communiqué signed by the Forum’s chairman, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, the Governors acknowledged the challenges in the Rivers State chapter and pledged to work towards peace. They affirmed their support for Governor Fubara and committed to engaging in broader consultations with stakeholders to find a peaceful resolution to the crises.

The communiqué also lamented the current state of affairs under the APC-led federal government, contrasting it with the achievements of the PDP’s 16-year rule, highlighting economic stability, anti-corruption measures, and improvements in living standards. The Forum praised PDP Governors for their governance innovations across various sectors and emphasized their commitment to restoring these achievements if elected in 2027.

Additionally, the Forum commended the host, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, for hosting the meeting and for his leadership in the South-East geopolitical zone, applauding his notable projects and interventions.
