Roddy Piper was cut from a movie without being told.
The WWE Hall of Famer is one of the most iconic wrestlers of all time. He even made the jump over to Hollywood. He helped make They Live a cult classic, and had an impressive performance as “Da Maniac” in multiple episodes of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
However, you will not be able to see his performance in one movie. Roddy Piper had a number of credits to his name, but was cut from one 2007 film despite performing well during filming.
Michael Rosenbaum spoke with Devon Sawa on Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum. The episode started off with a conversation about “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, with Rosenbaum revealing how Piper was cut from the 2007 movie Kickin’ It Old Skool at the last minute.
This was especially sad, as nobody told Roddy Piper. He turned up to the premiere with his family, only to sit through the movie and not see himself on the big screen. This was despite him being “awesome” (according to Rosenbaum, who was also in the film) during shooting.
“I worked with him. He gave me the sleeper, and then I gave him the sleeper he showed me how to I put him to sleep,” Michael Rosenbaum said. “It was called Kickin’ It Old School. I had a great time. I worked with Roddy, and here’s what’s sad. He was awesome. But he shows up to the premiere, and nobody told him he was cut out. He’s with his kids. I hate that when a director won’t call an actor and say ‘hey, listen, your stuff’s not in there’.”
The movie was rated at just 4.6 out of 10 on IMDB. Maybe Roddy Piper did well not being included in the final product of such a disliked movie.
