Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino was spotted hugging Aston Villa star Jhon Duran before the two teams clashed on Saturday night following rumours that the Blues wanted the forward in January.
The West London club are in desperate need of a new striker as Nicolas Jackson’s woes in front of goal continue and the Premier League club are expected to bring in a big name over the summer.
Chelsea looked for a stopgap in January and there were links to Duran as the Colombian is unhappy with his minutes at Villa Park. The striker is averaging just 19 minutes per game in the Premier League this season as Unai Emery cannot leave Ollie Watkins out of his team.
Last night’s match had evidence that Chelsea’s interest in Duran was real as Mauricio Pochettino was seen hugging the Aston Villa player before the 2-2 draw played out, reports journalist Jacob Tanswell.
It is unclear if the Blues will attempt to sign the 20-year-old again during the summer transfer window but there is now proof that there is some interest from the West London outfit.
