Saif Ali Khan is one of the most talented actors in Bollywood. He belongs to the renowned Pataudi family, the son of the late Nawab and cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, and the iconic actress Sharmila Tagore. Heeding his mother’s acting legacy, Khan has established himself as a skilled actor in Indian cinema. And now his children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan have taken their first steps into the film industry. However, one wonders if Khan’s younger sons, Taimur and Jeh, will follow in their siblings’ footsteps once they grow up.

Saif Ali Khan about being an actor

In a recent conversation with India Today Saif Ali Khan spoke about being an actor. He said, “Carrying the family legacy forward, in terms of being a good person, or a successful person, or someone who has served the country well is different to being a movie star. There’s no pressure on them to become an actor, even though I think it’s a great job.”

Saif Ali Khan is married to actress Kareena Kapoor, the couple have two sons, Taimur and Jeh. Before marrying Kareena, Saif was married to actress, Amrita Singh with whom he has two children, Sara and Ibrahim. The Devara actor added, “Two of the elder kids are already actors, or want to be… Tim, at one point, said that he can’t bear the thought of getting up in front of people and saying lines, I would be petrified! I said that I completely understand. But now, he tells me he’s looking forward to his school play. The youngest one is a born performer if you ever see him, and I know where that comes from. So, there’s no pressure. It’s a great job. But, for me, they could be school teachers… As long as you’re happy.”

Saif Ali Khan on restoring the Pataudi Palace

Speaking of the family’s legacy, the actor talked about restoring the Pataudi Palace to honour the legacy of his grandfather and father. During the same interview Saif said, “My grandparents are buried there, my father is buried there. It’s my family home. There are a lot of these old houses. We call them the Darbar halls, but I find that an outdated name. I want to call it the long room, after the hall at Lord’s. This house was built by the seventh nawab of Pataudi and my father. I want to put up their cricket places and bats, and I really want to restore this house with their spirit. That’s been my dream, and it’s almost done.”
