Samantha Irvin announced her departure from WWE before Monday Night RAW this week and utterly shocked the world in a big way. Fans wondered what the future would be for Irvin after her exit and it appears her plans have been revealed.
After the unexpected news of Samantha Irvin’s departure from WWE, fans and those within the company began speculating about the reasons behind her exit. Many wondered if a move to AEW was in her future.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer provided more insight, revealing that Irvin had been contemplating this decision for some time in order to focus on her music career. Bryan Alvarez mentioned that Irvin had outside projects she wanted to pursue, but couldn’t find a way to balance them with her WWE commitments.
“She’s got some outside projects she wants to do, couldn’t come to terms with how it worked with WWE and off she goes.”
Meltzer shared that Irvin had been thinking about leaving for nearly a year. As a singer and flutist, her passion lies in music, and she ultimately decided to prioritize it. While there’s no immediate plan for her to join AEW, Ricochet tweeted that it wasn’t her intention to move there. Meltzer also pointed out a parallel to Lilian Garcia, who left WWE for similar musical ambitions before eventually returning. Irvin’s exit is driven by her desire to follow her true passion in music, since wrestling was never her main interest growing up.
“She’s actually been thinking about it for a year. She’s a singer, she also plays the flute, but she wants to get more involved in her music. It was just something that she’d been talking about for a long, long time, and finally pulled the trigger on it. And that’s about it, really.
She’s not planning on going to AEW, not saying 100% that she won’t go. Ricochet actually tweeted that she’s not going and it was not her intention to go there, which is interesting because Lillian Garcia actually did the same thing. She left once for musical reasons and things like that too and she’s cut albums and things like that, and she’s back, so that’s pretty much it.
She [Samantha Irvin] left on her own. It was something that she’d been considering. She didn’t grow up as a wrestling person. She grew up as a musical person, and this was her passion. So she’s trying to follow her passion.”
There is no doubt that Samantha Irvin is incredibly talented when it comes to her singing abilities, as she even once compared herself to Ariana Grande. Nonetheless, we’ll have to see how she will fare as a musician, as that is clearly her next pursuit now.
