Scarlett Johansson weighed in on a controversial segment that her husband Colin Jost films with Michael Che on Saturday Night Live – their season finale joke swap.

If you were unaware, it’s become tradition for the Weekend Update hosts to write risky jokes for each other during the finale of each season of the popular late-night show.

The comedians then have to read them out loud for a live audience. While on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Scarlett revealed what she thought about the segment. To put it briefly, she said that she’s “terrified” by it.

During this year’s joke swap, Colin had to read out a joke that poked fun at Scarlett‘s legal battle with OpenAI over them seemingly replicating her voice for a character on ChatGPT.

Kelly Clarkson played back the joke for Scarlett who described it as “tame” compared to some of the other jokes that get told.

She confirmed that Colin and Michael do not know the jokes that they have to read until the big moment.

While Kelly described it as hysterical,” the actress jokingly noted that it was “brutal” and “painful.”

“I actually don’t remember that segment,” she said, explaining, “I fully blacked out.”

She added that she is worried about the aftermath of the segment.

“We need to go into like, witness protection after that night,” she said. “Like, I am absolutely terrified we’re gonna be like, targeted. It’s so bad. I black out for that period of the night. I don’t… I actually don’t remember it.”

Scarlett also opined that “every year it gets worse.”

Colin made another big joke about Scarlett on SNL recently.
