Doug Emhoff, the Second Gentleman who may become the first, told the Democrats tonight of the personal side of “joyful warrior” wife Kamala Harris.
The veteran Los Angeles entertainment lawyer recalled how he and Harris met on a blind date in 2013 and, less than a year later, got married. Then, he said, Harris blended so well with his family and his two children from a previous marriage that they took to calling her “Mamala,” while becoming friends with his ex-wife.
“America, in this election, you have to decide who to trust with your family’s future,” Emhoff said.
“I trusted Kamala with our family’s future. It was the best decision I ever made.”
Emhoff received a rousing welcome and chants of “Doug.” A short film was shown, narrated by his son Cole.
