Setback for BRS

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced that he has resumed his work as PCC president, focusing on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Two important leaders from the BRS party, Chevella MP G Ranjit Reddy and Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, have joined Congress and are planning to contest in the city constituencies.

Ranjit Reddy and Danam Nagender officially joined Congress in the presence of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and State Incharge Deepa Dass Munshi. Danam has been a longtime member of Congress and is known as a strong city leader.

More BRS leaders are expected to join Congress soon. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had previously mentioned that all BRS MLAs, except for K Chandrashekar Rao’s family members, would switch to Congress.

Ranjit Reddy cited the current political situation in the state as his reason for leaving BRS. He is likely to be Congress’s candidate for the Chevella Lok Sabha seat, despite BRS previously announcing his candidacy.

Danam Nagender is expected to run for the Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat under Congress, potentially facing off against Union Minister G Kishan Reddy. Former Hyderabad mayor Bonthu Rammohan, also a recent Congress joiner, may not receive a ticket for this election.
