CM Punk came back to WWE during the 2023 Survivor Series Premium Live Event and Seth Rollins wasn’t happy to see him back at all. Rollins feels he knows Punk well and it appears he believes Punk is worried about being exposed by him during their upcoming match.
While speaking to Jackie Redmond, Seth Rollins was asked why he believes CM Punk had been avoiding their feud for so long, ahead of their upcoming bout. Seth Rollins thinks CM Punk might be scared of being shown as not as good as he used to be.
Rollins points out that while Punk has been away from WWE for a long time, Rollins has been improving, wrestling over a thousand matches, winning titles, and headlining WrestleManias.
Rollins feels Punk might act the way he does to make himself look important to fans and other wrestlers. However, he also thinks Punk could genuinely be afraid. Once they face each other, Punk might have to admit that Rollins is right about him not being the same wrestler he once was.
“It’s hard to tell if it’s just a tactic of his, right? The line between what’s true and what’s not when it comes to what CM Punk says and does is very blurry.
I think, one, either it’s a tactic he uses to try to put himself on a pedestal so that myself or the audience watching at home sees him as this prize, or two, there’s a genuine fear. I mean, he’s been gone a long time. He’s not the same dude he was when he left.
I’ve grown. He’s regressed because he hasn’t been in the game as long as I have. In the time that he’s been gone from WWE, I’ve wrestled well over a thousand matches in a WWE ring. I’ve won titles. I’ve main-evented WrestleManias.
I am a younger man. I am in better shape than he is. And I think there’s a fear that if he faces me, everything I’m saying about him might be the truth. He might have to face that at the end of the match. He might have to face those truths.”
CM Punk and Seth Rollins are finally set to clash on the January 6 debut of Monday Night RAW on Netflix. This showdown is one of the most anticipated matches in recent memory. Fans are eager to see if The Second City Saint can secure a victory, but Rollins is determined to stop him. Rollins aims not only to win but also to expose Punk in the process.
