The upcoming summer transfer window will be a busy one for Barcelona as they are looking at a squad restructure, along with the appointment of a new manager.
The signings of a new defensive midfielder and a winger have been made the priorities, while a number of players who are currently away on loan are likely to be offloaded permanently as well.
Some of the current squad members could also be shown the doors as there is a need for player sales to address the Financial Fair Play rules.
Amidst this, Barcelona could find themselves in regular talks with Catalan rivals Girona, for the two clubs could be involved in as many as six deals in the summer, reports Mundo Deportivo.
Aleix Garcia
A midfielder is at the top of Barcelona’s wishlist for the summer and Aleix Garcia of Girona is among the key targets identified by Deco for the position. The Spaniard, for his part, appears to be open to the move.
Barça tried to sign him in January and will return for him again, and will hope to negotiate a fee lower than his €20 million release clause.
Eric Garcia
Eric Garcia left Barcelona to join Girona on loan on the summer transfer deadline day and has thrived in Michel’s side, with regular minutes coming his way. Hence, it is not a surprise that the La Masia product wishes to continue at the Montilivi beyond the current season.
Girona are also happy with the player and wish to keep him at the club. Barcelona, for their part, are contemplating his departure and could look to use him as part of a player-exchange deal.
Pablo Torre
Another player who is on loan at Girona from Barcelona and is starting to flourish after a tough start, Torre has been benefitting from the minutes he is getting under Michel.
However, unlike Eric Garcia, the plan for the young midfielder is to not continue at Girona next season, although it has been previously suggested that he could be used in a deal to sign Aleix Garcia.
Pau Victor
Now a player who is on loan at Barcelona, or Barça Atletic to be precise, from Girona, 22-year-old Pau Victor has done brilliantly for Rafa Marquez’s side and is the leading goalscorer this season for the reserve team.
As such, Barcelona are understood have decided to trigger his €3 million permanent purchase clause to secure his services full-time from Girona.
Mikayil Faye
Another Barcelona Atletic player, the 19-year-old defender is knocking on the first-team doors and at the same time is attracting serious interest from other clubs like Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.
Girona, for their part, are also very keen and have scouted Faye on several occasions this season. Their sporting director, Quique Cárcel, himself watched the young centre-half in action against Cornelia and could decide to explore the avenue come summer.
Oriol Romeu
Having joined Barcelona from Girona last summer, Oriol Romeu has fallen out of favour at the club and could be headed back to his former team later this year.
There were talks about a return in the winter, but nothing materialised. However, it is believed that discussions about a summer move have taken place.
