The Sky Sports column ‘Jones Knows’ has given some interesting analysis and commentary on what is currently the position at Newcastle United.

The column makes predictions on what will happen at certain Premier League matches and also debates other matters / issues at clubs as well.

However, unlike the usual ex-pro predictions, that are usually simply based on how ‘big’ a club is and whether or not they won the previous game, this one has proper analysis and insight, not lazy assumptions.

The Sky Sports ‘Jones Knows’ column looks at the matches from a betting perspective and has been concentrating on this Newcastle United game away at Wolves.

Lewis Jones (who is the Sky Sports expert behind the ‘Jones Knows’ column) has highlighted some major underlying factors that could / should have a big bearing on this Wolves v Newcastle game.

“The predicted intense midfield battle is where my betting instincts have taken me for this one.

“Newcastle’s trio of Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and possibly Sandro Tonali are all in-your-face kind of midfielders that make a high volume of fouls.

“If you total up their fouls-committed averages from last season, they are making 5.8 fouls per 90 between them. Even this season, Joelinton and Guimaraes have made 18 fouls combined in the Premier League.

“I’m expecting similar averages for the trip to Molineux where I like the look of Wolves midfielder Mario Lemina’s prices to be fouled up against that fouling frenzy of a Newcastle midfield.

“He’s drawn 15 fouls in his last 14 starts for Wolves, including two in the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest last weekend, so the 7/2 with Sky Bet for him to be fouled twice looks a runner.

“Score prediction: Wolves 1 Newcastle 1”

Always interesting to hear what the Sky Sports expert has to say with his analysis on Newcastle United matches and some good stuff there.

I am happy if the Sky Sports man is proved right with Newcastle United picking up the most fouls, just so long as United also score the most goals.

A lot of pundits have lazily gone for the 1-1 draw prediction, with four of the last six clashes ending in that score, whilst one of the other two was a 2-2 draw.

Of more relevance though I think are other stats, namely Wolves winning only one Premier League match the last six months. Losing nine and drawing three of their last 13 PL games, whilst Newcastle have won eight and drawn three of their last 13 PL matches.

Wolves also losing five of their last six PL games at Molineux.

If Newcastle play well today then I think they win.

Wolves also having lost their best two players this summer, Neto in attack and Kilman in defence.
