Skye Blue did not expect to make her debut in Chicago for AEW.
She wrestled her first pay per view match for AEW at All Out 2021. She competed in the Casino Battle Royal match at the event, which was won by the debuting Ruby Soho.
The wrestler spoke with Top Rope Renegades about her start in All Elite Wrestling. She revealed how she did not expect to wrestle in Chicago, but had her family there to help calm her down at the event.
Skye Blue Proved Her Point
Skye Blue was then asked about how she first became a wrestler. She responded by saying how her mother told her not to, so she learnt to wrestle in order to prove her wrong.
“I always watched it with my parents; they were obsessed with it. They still are. I remember I was sitting on the couch with my mom watching a hardcore match of some sort, and I looked at my mom. I was like, ‘Hey, I’m going to do that one day,’ and she said, ‘No, you’re not.’ And that was just kind of my, like, ‘Cool, now I got to prove you wrong.'”
“Once I started training in the ring, I absolutely loved it. I fell in love with it. I was the only girl at the original place I started training, and I could definitely tell that they were like, ‘Oh, she’s going to burn out. Oh, waiting for her to drop out or whatever.’ And I kind of took it as a challenge. I was like, ‘I want to be as good as the men. I want to show that I’m not just a pushover. I’m not going to quit. I want this.’ And I was very determined to get it.”
She Wants To Face Hikaru Shida and Mercedes Mone In AEW
Skye Blue was then asked which women in AEW she wants to face next. She noted that she’d faced most of the top stars, but named two wrestlers she can’t wait to wrestle.
“I have not had a singles match with Hikaru Shida. Yeah, and then obviously, Mercedes Mone, I would absolutely love to wrestle her. I think for the most part, though, I feel like I’ve wrestled almost everybody. Those are the two that stick out in my head the most at the moment.”
