‘Slow Horses’ Lands First-Ever Emmy Nominations; Gary Oldman & Jack Lowden Up For Acting Awards

Slow Horses has finally landed itself a seat at the Emmys table, with the series picking up a total of nine nominations.

The Apple TV+ show is up for Outstanding Drama Series, while Gary Oldman‘s turn as Jackson Lamb has finally landed an acting nomination in the Lead Actor in Drama Series category. Jack Lowden has also picked up an Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series nod and Jonathan Pryce is up in the Outstanding Guest Actor category.

Oldman will compete with Idris Elba, Donald Glover, Walton Goggins, Gary Oldman, Yuki Sanada and Dominic West for Lead Actor in Drama Series race. He’s considered among the favorites to win the prize.

The Apple TV+ series will be up against The Crown, Fallout, The Gilded Age, The Morning Show, Mr & Mrs Smith, Shōgun and 3 Body Problem in the Best Drama category. The series has picked several nominations from other awards over the years but never at the Emmys — until now.

Lowden is nominated for his role as River Cartwright, while Pryce is competing thanks to his turn as David Cartwright.

In Slow Horses, the Oscar winning-Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the head of an MI5 unit comprises of misfits and rejects. The series is based on Mick Herron’s ‘Slough House’ novels, stars the likes of Oldman, Lowden, Olivia Cook and Kristin Scott Thomas. It is gearing up for a fourth run on Apple TV+.

The Emmy nominations have just been released. The awards are being held on Sunday, September 15 the Peacock Theater in L.A., airing live at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT on ABC.
