Spotify has announced that it’s hiking subscriptions for customers in the U.S., the second such price increase in the space of a year.

The music-streaming giant reports that premium pricing will increase in July from $10.99 to $11.99, representing a near-10% rise. The Duo and Family plans will go up to $16.99 and $19.99, representing a $2 and $3 increase respectively. The student plan will remain at $5.99 per month.

The increase follows a similar announcement last July, when Spotify revealed a swathe of price-hikes around the globe, including in the U.S. where the ad-free premium plan went up from $9.99 to $10.99 per month.

Spotify said that premium subscribers will start receiving an email about the price increase in the coming month, however it’s a little ambiguous in terms of who the price increase will actually apply to. On the one hand, it suggests that all premium subscribers will receive the email about the price increase, but then it says that the new pricing will only be for “new subscribers.”

TechCrunch has reached out to Spotify for clarification, and will update here when we hear back.
