Steve Austin says you shouldn’t count on an iconic rematch at WrestleMania 40.

“Stone Cold” is just one of many legendary WWE Superstars to grace the ‘Forty Years of WrestleMania’ version of the WWE 2K24 cover. While speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated about the latest WWE video game, Austin seemed to rule out another WrestleMania match versus The Rock in Philly.

“I think that would be in slow motion,” said Austin with a laugh. “I don’t know about that, but Philly would be a great place for it to happen. I worked with The Rock at WrestleMania XV, and we rocked the house. I pinned his shoulders to the mat, one-two-three. But I don’t know about that happening now.”

Austin added, “If you want to recreate it, that’s why WWE 2K24 is so great. We’ll see what happens in Philly. But if you want to see it happen, make it happen in your own house.”

WrestleMania 15 saw Austin defeat The Rock to capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in Philadelphia. Austin would dethrone The Rock again at WrestleMania 17, but The Rock ended up victorious in their final match at WrestleMania 19.

As of this writing, there’s no word yet on what Austin or Rock’s involvement at WrestleMania 40 could be.
