Steve Maclin wants to stay with TNA, but he’s taking it one match at a time.
Maclin spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard ahead of Sacrifice about his match against Nic Nemeth. During the conversation, Maclin was asked about reports about his TNA contract expiring in the near future.
On February 19, Fightful (via Fightful Select) reported that Maclin’s contract with TNA is currently set to expire in May. The report noted that Fightful was unable to confirm whether the two sides have had talks about a contract extension.
Maclin confirmed that his contract does end in May. He expressed his interest in staying with TNA beyond that, but noted he’s taking things a day at a time.
“Yeah. I know that my deal’s up in May with TNA. I would love to stay. I’ve let management know that I’ve been enjoying my time here and loving my time here,” Maclin said. “But it’s one of those things where it’s going to come down to a choice of what’s best for me and my family.
“So, right now, I am focused more or less on just this Friday in Windsor,” he added. “[I’m] taking things one match at a time. But I know that I have a lot to prove as well for them to come back at me with an offer to stay. So, that’s on me.”
Maclin joined TNA in June 2021, making his in-ring debut on the June 17 episode of Impact! Prior to that, Maclin worked for WWE for 7 years as Steve Cutler on NXT and SmackDown.
