The Black List and Stowe Story Labs have partnered to create a fellowship for an emerging screenwriter to attend the Stowe Narrative Lab. The Fellow will also either participate in a longform online writing program or a one-on-one mentoring program, depending on their needs.

This is the first partnership between the Black List and Stowe Story Labs. For over a decade, each organization has been discovering and nurturing top emerging screenwriters and filmmakers, and this fellowship is a natural extension of that shared mission.

To qualify for the Black List Artist Development Fellowship, you must be an emerging screenwriter with a feature or TV project and apply for the Fellowship before Jan. 15 at 11:59 PM PST. There is one application for all Stowe labs, retreats, fellowships, and scholarships. The application is here.

The selected Fellow will workshop their project at Stowe’s Narrative Lab, free of charge. The Lab takes place in Stowe, Vermont, June 7-10, 2024. The Fellow will also receive a travel and lodging stipend of up to $1,500, along with other benefits including a copy of Final Draft screenwriting software and a 30-minute consultation with Stowe Alum, Mentor, and Board Member, Entertainment Attorney Stacey Davis. Lastly, depending on what serves the Fellow best, they will either enroll in a long-form online writing program (film or TV) or work in a custom-designed one-on-one mentoring program with the Stowe team, also free of charge.

Stowe Founder and Director David Rocchio said, “We are so pleased to be partnering with The Black List on this fellowship. Stowe and the Black List are aligned on finding and nurturing new voices working to tell compelling stories, and through that work, bend the world a bit through story. This partnership will help both organizations achieve that mission.”

The Black List Fellowship and Stowe’s advanced development fellowships are new in 2024. The Stowe advanced development fellowships will be awarded to two artists, who will be invited to attend a 2024 Narrative Lab, an ongoing mentoring program, and a 2024 Writers’ Retreat, all free of charge. These fellows will also receive a travel and lodging stipend. You can apply today here for these and nine other fellowship.
