Taha Shah Badussha has been garnering attention for his intense performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi’. However, his journey in the film industry hasn’t been easy. Despite debuting alongside Shraddha Kapoor in Yash Raj Films’ ‘Luv Ka The End’, Taha, an outsider, faced years of struggle. Taha Shah Badussha revealed that many have compared his struggles to those of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In a recent interaction with Siddharth Kannan, Taha spoke about his memories of Sushant and his desire to carry forward the late star’s legacy.

Taha shared, “I knew Sushant personally. I know how it is to come from outside. I would like to take his legacy forward. People have actually messaged me and told me that I am their new Sushant. How awesome is that? Because I know how much love the audience gave him. I just hope to live up to these expectations.”

Recalling a meeting with Sushant Singh Rajput, Taha said, “He was a very philosophical and intelligent person. He would talk a lot about books, and I relate to him on that. I didn’t spend too much time with him; we talked only at events and parties. When I met him, we talked about NASA. We also talked about ‘Kai Po Che’ because I was being considered for Amit Sadh’s character in the film, but I ended up not getting it because of the age difference.”

Taha Shah Badussha’s appearance at the Cannes Film Festival 2024 last month also grabbed significant attention. While some cheered for him, others questioned his presence there. For those unaware, Taha attributed his Cannes debut to the trailer and poster launch of his film ‘Paro’ at the Bharat Pavilion.

In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Taha addressed the internet chatter as ‘bizarre.’ He explained, “I went to Cannes to launch my film and to make contacts. So many people from America and Canada looked at me and said, ‘This guy is the star of Heeramandi but he’s acting like a newcomer.’ I literally went around giving my card to people asking them to be in touch with me and watch Heeramandi.”

Taha’s candid reflections on his journey and his determination to honour Sushant’s legacy highlight his resilience and dedication in the face of challenges.
