The battle to qualify for next season’s Champions League takes centre stage in England on Saturday as top-five contenders Manchester City and Brighton clash, while Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth are in action elsewhere.

There’s plenty at stake when third-placed Forest take on third-bottom Ipswich at Portman Road, while Wolves can potentially give themselves further breathing space if they beat rock-bottom Southampton on the south coast.

And there’s a packed schedule of EFL games too, with some big prices available for the lesser lights to take points off promotion-chasing Championship sides.

We’ve picked out three bets for you to consider with a focus on the action in England.

Saturday football betting tips

Bet of the Day - Nottingham Forest to beat Ipswich @ 20/21

Forest have an outstanding record against promoted clubs in the last two campaigns, winning seven and drawing three of their 10 games.

They have won the last six in a row and it is notable how much more productive they have become against Premier League new-boys under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Predecessor Steve Cooper oversaw one win and two draws against Luton, Sheffield United and Burnley in 2023-24.

All of those games were at the City Ground while, after taking over in December, Nuno led Forest to two wins and one draw against the same clubs on the road.

This season, the Tricky Trees have been perfect against promoted sides - picking up a maximum 12 points from the four fixtures, with eight goals scored and only three conceded.

Ipswich have struggled to pick up points in their first season back in the Premier League, and their difficulties have been magnified against the top teams.

The Tractor Boys have collected only four points from their 10 previous matches against current top-seven clubs and have suffered some heavy defeats along the way.

Special of the Day - Marshall Munetsi to score anytime v Southampton 2/1 BOOSTED to 11/5

Wolves midfielder Marshall Munetsi scored his first Premier League goal last Saturday in his side’s hard-fought 1-1 home draw with Everton.

And judging from the Zimbabwean international’s first few games in Old Gold it will not be his last.

The £16.6million January signing from Reims has been getting into some promising positions to score in his first month at the club as his underlying statistics illustrate.

Munetsi, who saw a back post-header from a corner blocked on the line against Everton, is among the most potent midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues right now.

Among his positional peers, he is in the top seven per cent for goals per 90 minutes and one of the top two per cent for non-penalty expected goals per 90 minutes.

His current figure of 0.63 expected goals per 90 minutes is only behind three Premier League strikers - Alexander Isak (0.68), Erling Haaland (0.75) and Mohamed Salah (0.77).

So, his boosted odds to score at St Mary’s against a Southampton side that have shipped 15 goals in their last four home games look not to be missed.

Longshot of the Day - Swansea to WIn to Nil v Burnley @ 5/1

Swansea have picked up a bit of form lately, winning two and drawing one of their last four games to pull clear of the relegation zone.

The platform for their progress has been the defence, which kept three clean sheets in a row following a recent change of head coach.

The Swans’ defensive upturn has come just when Burnley’s long-running clean sheet record has been halted and they could be handed a dose of their own medicine in south Wales this weekend.

Scott Parker’s side have failed to score in three of their last five road trips, so one goal might be enough for Alan Sheehan’s men to grab a shock victory.
