Wednesday will be a day of agony and ecstasy, with the majority of the football action coming from cup competitions.

Both Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals feature in our betting tips, while there is also a treble involving games from France, Germany and Spain.

Bet of the day

Nigeria to beat South Africa to nil @ 5/4

Nigeria have grown into the Africa Cup of Nations, drawing their opener against Equatorial Guinea 1-1 before recording victories to nil against Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, Cameroon and Angola.

The Super Eagles next face a South African side who needed penalties to beat Cape Verde in the last eight and have had a curious campaign in that all five of their AFCON matches have finished with a 'no' in the both teams to score market.

It could be another grind in Bouake, especially with the Super Eagles potentially missing a few key players, including striker Victor Osimhem who is a doubt after complaining of abdominal discomfort. However, they have shown they have the defensive strength to record another triumph with an accompanying clean sheet.

Special of the day

Both teams to score in PSG v Brest, Saarbrucken v Borussia Monchengladbach and Atletico Madrid v Athletic Bilbao @ 17/5

There is a host of cup action around Europe on Wednesday, with the Coupe de France, DFB-Pokal and Copa del Rey on the agenda.

Paris Saint-Germain have been among the goals recently, with their last three games seeing three or more netted in each. That run includes a 2-2 draw against Wednesday's Coupe de France visitors Brest. Luis Enrique's side should have enough to progress to the round of 16 but the Breton team have the talent to score for the sixth consecutive away match.

Onto the DFB-Pokal quarter-final between Saarbrucken and Borussia Monchengladbach.

The hosts sit 12th in the third tier but after seeing off Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt to get this far, they will fancy themselves to at least get a goal against a Gladbach side who have kept just one clean sheet on the road all season.

Finally to Spain and the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg between Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao.

Los Colchoneros grabbed a late 1-1 draw at Real Madrid on Sunday and their defence will be tested by a Bilbao side fresh from beating Mallorca 4-0.

Long shot of the day

Ivory Coast to beat DR Congo in Extra Time @ 15/2

Despite only winning one of their five games in 90 minutes, hosts Ivory Coast have somehow made their way through to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Their round-of-16 success over Senegal came via a penalty shootout, while they needed a 90th-minute equaliser from Simon Adingra to force extra time against Mali before Oumar Diakite netted deep in the second half to book his country's place in the last four.

Diakite received a second yellow card for his celebrations so will miss Wednesday's match, as will Odilon Kossounou after his own dismissal earlier in the win over Mali.

Like the Elephants, opponents DR Congo have hardly had a smooth run through to the last four, drawing all three of their group games before beating Egypt on penalties in the round of 16.

The Leopards' 3-1 quarter-final win over Guinea was impressive and they will look to push the hosts hard. However, despite their lack of cohesion, Emerson Fae's spell in caretaker charge feels like it has a degree of destiny about it and Ivory Coast are a good price to force their way through again.
