Three protesters were shot dead by security operatives while attempting to vandalize food storage facilities belonging to international non-governmental organizations in Potiskum, Yobe State.
Potiskum is currently under a 24-hour curfew. The incident occurred early Friday when the youths defied the curfew and attempted to damage the facilities. Several others were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Funeral prayers for the deceased were conducted immediately after Friday prayers at the Palace of the Emir of Pataskum.
In contrast, the situation in Damaturu, the state capital, remains calm and peaceful, with no groups protesting on the second day of the nationwide demonstrations. Residents are cautiously going about their business, fearing potential unrest.
Security operatives, including the Army, Police, NSCDC, DSS, and Vigilante groups, are stationed at strategic locations throughout Damaturu.
