Preparations are underway for the planned protests declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and related unions, highlighting concerns over the country’s high cost of living, inflation, insecurity, and general hardship.

At the Labour House headquarters in Abuja, our correspondents observed various union workers and concerned Nigerians arriving as early as 7:12 a.m., joining in the mobilization efforts.

The presence of Department of State Services operatives was also noted.

The NLC and the Trade Union Congress had previously issued a 14-day nationwide strike notice to the Federal Government on February 8, citing the failure to implement agreements reached on October 2, following the removal of the fuel subsidy.

In response to the government’s alleged failure to meet its commitments within the ultimatum period, organized labor has scheduled a two-day nationwide protest for Tuesday, February 27, and Wednesday, February 28.

Last Monday, preparations for the protests began, with organized labor mobilizing its members across the country to raise awareness about the challenges faced due to the high cost of living.
