'The Apprentice' Director Ali Abbasi Accused of Groping A-List Star at Golden Globes After Party

Ali Abbasi, the director of the Oscar-nominated movie The Apprentice, has been accused of groping an A-List star and has parted ways with his U.S. representation.

The alleged incident took place at CAA’s Golden Globes after party back in early January. Deadline‘s sources say “an inebriated Abbasi aggressively groped an A-list, CAA-repped actor.”

Sources close to Abbasi say “he was explicitly advised not to be in contact with the actor” in the aftermath of the incident, while others say CAA wanted him to apologize to the actor.

Deadline reports that Abbasi is no longer working with his agents at CAA or his managers at Entertainment 360. While he didn’t comment on the groping allegations, Abbasi responded to the news about his representation change.

“I can confirm that I’ve made the decision to move in a new direction with my career. I’m grateful for the work CAA and Entertainment 360 have done, particularly their commitment to The Apprentice, which remains a project I’m incredibly proud of. I look forward to announcing my next steps at the appropriate time,” he said in a statement.

The Apprentice, which is based on Donald Trump‘s rise to fame and power in the 70s and 80s, is nominated for two Oscars – Best Actor for Sebastian Stan and Best Supporting Actor for Jeremy Strong.
