WWE’s NXT brand brought a big show for their January 7 episode. We are only one day removed from WWE RAW’s epic Netflix debut, and The Rock didn’t want the party to stop in LA.
The Rock has a deep connection with NXT, because his daughter is General Manager, Ava. That being said, his daughter is certainly following in his giant footsteps.
The Rock made it very clear that he was going to be on NXT this week, but nobody knew what his business would be. A lot of fans tuned into the CW in order to see what The Final Boss’s intentions were in the company’s developmental brand.
The Rock showed up to interrupt Ethan Page as he complained to Ava. The Final Boss confronted Page over breaking Je’Von Evans’ jaw. Then Dwayne Johnson told him that “payback’s gonna be a bitch.” Then The Rock made it clear that Ava is the final boss in NXT, so if Page wants to be cool with The Rock, then he needs to be cool with Ava.
Ava and The Rock shared a moment on screen, and she even admitted that this was a pretty moment. Then she gave The Rock some advice on what to say when he goes out in front of the crowd.
The Rock closed out the show this week, and he received a ton of chants. Fans cheered for The Final Boss in a huge way, which ate up his time a bit as he started his promo. The Rock said he had chills all over his body, thanks to the “crazy” reception he received. Then he said something that needed to be bleeped on The CW.
With six minutes left, The Rock promised it will be “the best six minutes.” He listed his nicknames, including Sexiest Man Alive, before he asked fans to help him out.
Then he turned his attention to Cody Rhodes, because he was nice to the American Nightmare during the big RAW Netflix debut. He then assured everyone that he’s thinking 20 steps ahead, so those doubting fans who were upset that he was nice to Cody can shut their mouths and enjoy the ride that he’s taking them on.
The crowd was rowdy, and they only had two minutes left, but The Rock said that they’re gonna go all night. He also dropped the f-bomb before apologizing for it. The Rock admitted that he didn’t know what to say on NXT, and the crowd would let him know what to say. The Rock then thanked fans in NXT before he said that everyone in the crowd is so important to what they do in NXT.
We will have to see what The Rock does in WWE next, but you never know where he will show up next. He certainly made a big memory this week.
