Manchester United have begun to explore their options amidst the expected departure of Marcus Rashford.
The 27-year-old is a youth product of the club and the fanbase was hoping to see him don the Red jersey for the remainder of this playing career, but this scenario seems far from plausible following the escalating events that followed Ruben Amorim’s appointment.
The Portuguese tactician is demanding hard work and sacrifices both on the pitch and on the training ground, but it appears that the England international is falling short on this front, so he and Alejandro Garnacho were shockingly omitted from the squad for the big Derby against Manchester City, which United went on to win thanks to Amad Diallo’s heroics.
On Tuesday, Rashford suggested his time at Old Trafford could be coming to an end, insisting he won’t be stirring the pot, but will peacefully head towards the exit door.
Therefore, the management is already reflecting on its options, as a new addition to the attacking department will be seemingly required in January based on how the Rashford debacle is unfolding.
According to Fichajes.net, the Red Devils have identified Nico Williams as the ideal man for the role. The 22-year-old is a left winger who rose through the ranks of Athletic Bilbao. Last summer, he was one of the main stars for Spain who went on to clinch the trophy.
Man United seeking Nico Williams as Rashford replacement
The Spanish source reveals that the young player has a release clause worth €58 million, which could facilitate matters for the Premier League giants.
That being said, signing Williams won’t be an easy task for Man United, as they’ll be facing stern competition from the likes of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
Nevertheless, the report believes Utd are determined to remain ahead of the competition and will do everything in their power to reach the finish line.
This season, Williams has contributed with two goals and five assists in 22 appearances between LaLiga and the Europa League.
